Fremantle Masters Games – RULES of COMPETITION
1. Entry Fees
There shall be two fees to enter the Fremantle Masters Games :
(a) Registration fee to be $15.00
(b) Sports fee to be determined by each sport
1.1 Registration Fee
The Registration Fee registers participants in the Masters Games, this is a one off fee that is paid to cover the registration in the Games and attendance at social functions. This is a one off fee for all competitors in the games. For example, if a competitor enters into lawn bowls and netball then the Registration Fee is applicable only once.
1.2 Sports Fee
To assist in covering any equipment and / or venue costs, each sport may, subject to the Fremantle Masters Games Organising Committee approval, charge a sports fee. This fee will be kept to an absolute minimum and should not be seen as a fund raising venture.
2. Minimum Nominations to Conduct an Event in the Games
The minimum number of competitors to enter the games will be set by the organising sporting bodies. If so determined by the sporting body it is possible to have only one person competing in an event for each age group in this situation only a gold medal will be awarded.
3. Medal Allocations
(a) Provided the minimum numbers of competitors compete in an event (rule 2.0 applies) then gold, silver and bronze medallions will be awarded.
(b) Each Sport Body will determine and publicise the squad size for each sport. Medal allocations will be made on this basis.
(c) Whereby a tie occurs in the medal rounds, the following situation shall apply :
- Tie for first place - Two gold medals shall be awarded and a bronze medal for third place. No medals shall be awarded for second place.
- Tie for second place - The gold medal is awarded for first place and two silver medals awarded for second place tie. No medals shall be awarded for third place
- Tie for third place - Gold and silver medals shall be awarded and two bronze medals shall be awarded for the third place tie.
- Tie for first and tie for second - Two gold medals shall be awarded for the first place tie and two bronze medals shall be awarded for the second place tie.
4. Competition Rules
Each sport will be bound by the competition rules of the national body of that sport.
Any Sports Body wishing to alter the national body’s rules and regulations must gain approval from the Masters Games Organising Committee and provide a copy of the By Laws relevant for competition at the Masters Games.
4.1 Age Groupings
Unless otherwise indicated by State or National governing sporting bodies the age for competition will be as follows.
The age groupings for competitors in each sport shall be taken from the day preceding the first day of the Fremantle Masters Games.
E.g. A person 40 years of age on the 31 December will compete as a 40 year old.
A person 40 years of age on the 1 January will compete as a 39 year old.
4.2 Disputes
Should disputes of any form arise during the Games and such disputes can not be resolved by the Sports Body, then the Sports Body may refer the disputes to a specially convened Disputes Committee.
The Disputes Committee's decision is final and no appeals will be heard.
The Disputes Committee will only be convened at the request of the Sports Body.
4.2.1 Ineligible Person Competing in a Team
Action
(a) The complaint should be placed in writing and delivered to the Sports Body within one (1) hour of the completed event.
(b) The Sports Body has the power to adjudicate on the complaint.
(c) If the complaint is upheld the team concerned will lose the points associated with that event and subsequent events in which that player competes.
(d) No disputes will be entered into following the completion of the last event of the tournament.
4.2.2 Dispute on Competition Results
Action
(a) The complaint should be placed in writing and delivered to the Sports Body within one (1) hour of the completed event.
(b) The Sports Body has the power to adjudicate on the complaint.
(c) No disputes will be entered into following the completion of the last event of the tournament.
